Justin Sheen

I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Princeton University. My adviser is Prof. C. Jessica E. Metcalf. My research interests include trial designs to study infectious diseases in animals, ecological structures that influence the virulence evolution of poultry pathogens, and the effect of evictions on pathogen transmission in cities.

Each of these projects concern ethical issues at their heart. Should cities have implemented eviction bans to alleviate infection burden? Do the benefits of self-disseminating animal vaccines outweigh their evolutionary risks? What measures could be taken to decrease virulence factors of pathogens that can wipe out entire flocks of poultry? I am interested in addressing these kinds of questions.

Previously, I studied Chagas disease in the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Informatics at the University of Pennsylvania. My adviser was Prof. Michael Z. Levy.
